Curriculum Structure:

Year 1: Foundations of International Relations
In your first year, you’ll dive into the basics with courses like International Relations: Theories, Concepts and Debates and Contemporary Issues in International Relations. You’ll also explore history through courses such as Empires and Resistance in Global History or International Politics since 1914: Peace and War, plus take an outside option from another department. LSE100 helps you develop interdisciplinary thinking, giving you the tools to approach complex global issues.

Year 2: Deepening Knowledge and Specialization
In the second year, you’ll start shaping your own path with courses like International Political Theory, Foreign Policy Analysis, International Organisations, International Security, and International Political Economy. You’ll also have the flexibility to choose additional courses—whether in another language or subject area—so you can broaden your perspective beyond international relations.

Year 3: Advanced Study and Dissertation
Your final year is about specialization and independence. You’ll pick three advanced international relations courses and can explore further options, including languages. If you want to dive deep into research, you can also undertake a dissertation, giving you the chance to make your own contribution to understanding global affairs.
