This exciting joint honours degree lets you explore the world of politics and international relations while mastering the Spanish language. You’ll study how political systems work, understand global issues, and develop fluency in Spanish, opening doors to careers across the globe.


Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Foundations

In your first year, you’ll get to grips with the basics of politics and international relations, learning about comparative politics and international affairs. At the same time, you’ll start your Spanish journey, whether you’re a beginner or already know the language, with classes designed to build both confidence and communication skills.

Year 2: Building Skills

Year 2 deepens your understanding of political ideas and global issues, helping you think critically and argue effectively. Your Spanish studies progress too, focusing on more complex language skills and cultural understanding, so you can discuss and analyze topics confidently in another language.

Year 3: Specialisation and Global Experience

Now you can start tailoring your studies to your interests, choosing modules like Elections, Public Policy, or International Security. You’ll also have the chance to study abroad in a Spanish-speaking country, fully immersing yourself in the language and culture—an incredible opportunity to gain real-world experience.

Year 4: Dissertation and Advanced Language
