3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
If you’re curious about how politics shapes the world and want to understand how businesses actually work within those systems, this program gives you the best of both. You’ll study big political ideas and institutions while also gaining hands-on skills in business management, marketing, and strategy—perfect if you want a career that connects public life with the private sector.
Curriculum Structure
Year 1
You’ll start by building a solid foundation in both subjects. On the politics side, modules like Thinking Politically and Politics in Action introduce you to the language of power, ideologies, and decision-making. On the business side, you’ll take Economics for Business and Fundamentals of Management, learning how companies organise themselves and respond to market forces. You’ll also choose optional modules in British politics, international relations, or global history, depending on your interests.
Year 2
In your second year, you’ll begin connecting political theory with management practice. Modules such as Modern Political Thought and Comparative Politics sharpen your understanding of governance, while Marketing and Communications and Management and Organisational Behaviour give you a closer look at how businesses engage with people and run effectively. You’ll also get training in research methods—both qualitative and quantitative—so you can analyse real-world political and business data.
Year 3
Your final year is about applying everything you’ve learned. You’ll carry out an independent Politics dissertation on a topic of your choice, while also tackling advanced business modules like Contemporary Strategic Analysis and Managing Human Resources. On top of that, you can shape your degree with optional modules such as Environmental Politics, Civil Society and Activism, or Analysing Public Policy, depending on where you see your future career heading.
Focus areas: politics and ideologies, governance, economics in business, organisational behaviour, marketing and communications, strategy, human resources, global governance, activism, and policy.
Learning outcomes: you’ll graduate able to think critically about political systems, understand how organisations work, design research projects, and bring political insight into business or policy roles.
Professional alignment: delivered jointly by QMUL’s School of Politics and International Relations and the School of Business and Management, meaning you learn from specialists across both fields.
Reputation: QMUL graduates in related subjects earn an average of £30,500 within 15 months of finishing their degree (DiscoverUni). The university is well-ranked for its teaching quality and international outlook, helping you stand out in the job market.

Internships and placements – the School’s careers team will help you secure internships with local businesses, charities, or public organisations, giving you real work experience alongside your degree.
Study abroad option – if you choose the four-year pathway, you can spend a year overseas, experiencing how politics and business operate in a completely different cultural setting.
Specialist software and online platforms – gain access to digital tools such as statistical packages, business applications, and QMplus (your virtual learning hub), which supports collaborative assignments and project work.
Research spaces like TheoryLAB – get involved in discussions and workshops that connect political ideas with contemporary issues, working alongside staff and fellow students.
London as your extended classroom – with access to major libraries, parliamentary archives, think tanks, and business hubs, the city itself becomes a hands-on learning resource.
