BA (Hons) Politics and International Relations with a Foundation Year

9 Months On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Kent

Program Overview

If you dream of studying for a UK degree but don’t yet meet the direct entry requirements, Kent’s International Foundation Programme is the perfect first step. It helps you build confidence in your subject area, strengthen your academic English, and adjust smoothly to the UK university system — all within a friendly, supportive international community.

 Curriculum Structure

Term 1
You’ll begin with Academic Skills Development, learning how to write essays, think critically, and manage your time effectively. Alongside this, you’ll take subject modules linked to your chosen degree pathway — for example Mathematics for Foundations, Business Studies I, or Introduction to Natural Sciences. It’s a great start to explore what university-level learning feels like while getting all the support you need.

Term 2
In your second term, you’ll go deeper into your subjects — modules such as Mathematics II, Economics for Foundations, or Biology / Chemistry for Foundations — and continue developing key academic skills. You’ll learn how to research, analyse information, and express your ideas clearly in writing and discussions.

Term 3
The final term prepares you to transition confidently into your degree. You’ll study more advanced subject modules like Advanced Mathematics for Foundations or Advanced Business, complete research projects, and practice real university assessments such as essays and exams. By the end, you’ll feel ready for undergraduate life at Kent.
