BSc Hons Psychology

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Swansea University

Program Overview

Studying Psychology at Swansea University offers comprehensive scientific training focused on understanding the connection between the mind, brain, and behaviour. Through this course, students explore key psychological and neuroscientific principles underlying cognitive functions such as memory, reasoning, language, and the effects of brain injuries. The programme also examines how psychology can be applied to improve health behaviours.

Throughout your studies, you’ll develop strong research capabilities, analytical and writing skills, as well as numeracy and digital competencies. Teaching is delivered through diverse formats including lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, and hands-on research classes—promoting collaboration and communication excellence.

The School of Psychology at Swansea has earned an excellent reputation, with 100% of its research impact rated as internationally excellent in REF 2021. The degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), and graduates achieving at least a 2:2 qualify for Graduate Membership and the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC).

You can choose from three pathways: a flexible 3-year BSc; a 4-year BSc with either a Year in Industry or Abroad; or a 4-year MSci, ideal for ambitious students wanting advanced, career-focused learning. The MSci includes master’s-level modules and a unique ‘Psychology Research Skills in Practice’ placement alongside expert researchers.

Graduates often pursue careers in specialist areas of psychology or move into broader fields such as healthcare, education, marketing, or management. A clinical psychologist’s starting salary in the NHS is around £35,000, with potential to earn significantly more as experience grows.
