Program Overview

This psychology degree offers an in-depth exploration of the biological, cognitive, developmental, and social aspects of psychology, with additional focus on clinical and health psychology. The program is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), providing you with a strong foundation in key psychological principles and research.

In your first year, you’ll build a solid understanding of core concepts, methods, and theories across biological, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology. You’ll also learn to design and analyze research in a creative and rigorous way.

Year two deepens your knowledge, focusing on areas such as cognitive neuroscience, social psychology, and developmental psychology. You will extend your research methods, skills, and project work, alongside selecting optional modules in both semesters.

In your final year, you’ll complete a dissertation and choose from a variety of optional units, often based on cutting-edge research and the expertise of academic staff. These topics often include areas not found in other psychology programs.

Teaching is informed by research, with faculty members who specialize in clinical, cognitive, developmental, environmental, health, neuroscience, and social psychology. The Department of Psychology provides access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a biopsychology suite, crossmodal laboratory, sensory and pain research suite, and more.
