BSc Hons Psychology and Criminology

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Central Lancashire

Program Overview

This three-year, full-time degree combines psychology’s scientific study with criminology’s critical analysis to offer a thorough understanding of criminal behaviour and the psychological factors influencing it. It prepares you for careers in criminal justice, forensic psychology, and related areas.

Curriculum Structure

Year One
In your first year, you’ll explore foundational ideas in both psychology and criminology. You will study modules that examine alternative views of crime, critical criminological theories, methods of psychological inquiry, and developmental and social psychology to understand how behaviour is shaped by social groups and individual attitudes.

Year Two
The second year deepens your understanding with modules focusing on psychological assessment, behaviour change, and research and professional skills development. These courses build your ability to apply psychological theories and methods in practical contexts.

Year Three
In the final year, you will specialise further, studying topics such as mental health psychology, brain and behaviour relationships, occupational psychology, and other applied areas. You will also complete a supervised research project, allowing you to investigate an area of your choice in depth.

Placement or Study Abroad Option:
While not a compulsory part of the course, optional placements or study-abroad opportunities may be available through elective modules, particularly in later years.
