Program Overview:
This joint honours degree gives you the chance to explore the human mind and behavior through psychology, while gaining a broad understanding of historical events, societies, and cultures. It’s perfect for students who enjoy both analytical and human-centered disciplines and want a flexible, interdisciplinary degree.

Curriculum Structure

Year One
You’ll study introductory modules like Foundations of Psychology and Understanding the Past, covering both psychological theory and historical analysis. This year builds your academic skills across both fields while giving you space to explore key concepts.

Year Two
In your second year, you'll dive deeper into Social and Developmental Psychology and Modern European History, alongside research methods training. You’ll begin to make connections between historical events and psychological theories of group behavior, ideology, and societal change.

Year Three
This year focuses on critical application, with advanced options such as Abnormal Psychology and Historical Themes of your choice. You'll also develop your research and writing skills in preparation for your final-year dissertation.

Year Four
In the final year, you’ll undertake a Joint Honours Dissertation that may integrate themes from both psychology and history. Optional modules such as Health Psychology, Memory and Identity, or focused history seminars allow for personal academic exploration.

Focus areas:
Cognitive and social psychology, research methods, European and global history, abnormal behavior, political and cultural change.

Please note: This joint honours degree is not accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). If you plan to pursue a psychology profession (e.g., clinical psychology), a single honours accredited program is recommended.
