Interior designers create the environments in which we live, work and play. They work with residential and non-residential spaces and generally specialize in one or the other. They understand not only the fundamentals of design, but also its technical development in such areas as drafting, computer-aided design, presentation and interior construction. Interior designers also must have knowledge regarding lighting and building systems as well as federal, state and local building codes
High school GPA of 3.0/4.0 (US grading scale), Interview with Admissions Representative, Test scores: TOEFL minimum required score of 79, IELTS minimum required score of 6.0 overall band. One letter of recommendation is requested. Statement required. SAT - 1500 out of 2400, ACT - 18 English, 22 Reading, 22 Mathematics and 23 Science. Submitting transcripts US universities use a holistic admissions review. Beyond grades and standardized test scores, they weigh the strength of your overall profile to understand who you are as a student and a person.
Profile Assessment: Creative-field applicants may be assessed through academic preparation, creative ability, visual thinking and, where required, a portfolio. The portfolio may include finished work as well as sketches, experimentation, process development and written explanations. Architecture may value Mathematics, Physics, drawing and spatial thinking, while Art, Design and Fashion programs may place greater emphasis on originality, technical development and the creative process.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
