Program Overview

nstrumental Conducting at The Hartt School is a unique program that strives to prepare students for the many varied and diverse opportunities that await the young conductor. Each student has two teachers: Glen Adsit (Director of Bands), and Edward Cumming (Director of Orchestral Activities), both of whom have a combined sixty years of experience as performers and teachers all over the world. In addition to weekly private lessons, score analysis and seminar, each conducting student will have the opportunity to pursue further studies with Edward Bolkovac, Director of Choral Studies; Doris Lang Kosloff, Director of Opera.

Additional Information & Requirements

Completed High School with a score of 70% (out of 100), IELTS of 6.0, TOEFL ibT of 80, Pearsons of 58, Letters of Recommendation, GCSE or GCE English Pass (syllabus A) with grade of A, B or C, Mathematics, Natural/Physical Science and Social Science, GPA of 2.75 (out of 4.0), IB English A1 or A2 with grade of 3 or higher, Academic Records and transcripts, IB English A1 or A2 with grade of 3 or higher, SAT Evidence based reading / writing 480 or higher.
