Program Overview

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) offers a career-driven, AACSB-accredited curriculum that combines strong theoretical foundations with extensive hands-on learning. As the only AACSB-accredited accounting program in Alaska, UAF provides unmatched academic rigor and credibility. Students gain the skills needed for CPA licensure and for roles in public, corporate, nonprofit, and government accounting. The degree is available in a highly flexible format, 100% online, in-person in Fairbanks, or as a hybrid, allowing learners to balance their studies with personal and professional commitments.

The program features advanced Excel training, accounting information systems, auditing, tax, and cost accounting. Students also benefit from internship opportunities, the Student Investment Fund, and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

  • Year 1: General education, introductory accounting, business foundation, and quantitative coursework.

  • Year 2: Principles of accounting, communication skills, business ethics, and professional development.

  • Year 3: Intermediate accounting, tax, cost accounting, auditing, and Excel for finance.

  • Year 4: Accounting electives, advanced accounting topics, international business/finance, cybersecurity, and capstone strategy project.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)
