Program Overview

The B.B.A. in Management at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) develops students’ leadership, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills, preparing them to lead teams and organizations in a changing business environment. The 120-credit program combines a broad business foundation with management-focused study and allows students to develop an area of interest through Human Resource Management, Health Care Management, or International Business Management emphases.

Curriculum Structure

First Year:
Students begin by developing their academic and business foundations through general education and introductory business coursework. Subjects such as BUS 250: Legal Environment of Business, BUS 271: Business Communication, and ECON 202/203 introduce students to the legal, communication, economic, and organizational concepts that support later management study.

Second Year:
Students progress into the core business curriculum and begin developing a stronger understanding of management and business functions. Courses such as MGMT 371: Principles of Management, MKTG 351, and FIN 331 help students understand managerial decision-making alongside marketing and financial principles, while BAIS 309 adds a business information-systems perspective.

Third Year:
The third year places greater emphasis on people, communication, negotiation, and organizational performance. Students take BUS 322: Negotiation and Dispute Resolution and MGMT 391: Organizational Behavior, while upper-level management or entrepreneurship electives allow them to explore areas such as human resources, health care, international business, or entrepreneurship.

Fourth Year:
In the final year, students develop advanced leadership and strategic-management capabilities through MGMT 493: Management of Strategic Planning, MGMT 495: Leadership and Group Dynamics, and MGMT 496: Modern Management Skills. Students can also complete a selected emphasis or additional 300-level management/entrepreneurship coursework, giving the final stage of the degree a more focused career direction.
