Program Overview

The University of Georgia offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science through its School of Computing. This program provides students with a solid foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of computer science within the context of a liberal arts education. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in software development, systems administration, consulting, project management, or for pursuing advanced studies in computer science. The BS-CS program at UGA is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. 

 

Curriculum and Modules:

The BS-CS degree requires the completion of 121 credit hours, encompassing:

  • General Education Core Curriculum: Courses that provide a broad educational foundation.​

  • Major Requirements: Comprehensive computer science courses covering areas such as programming, algorithms, computer systems, and software engineering.​

  • Electives: Opportunities to explore advanced topics and specialized areas within computer science.​

All major-related coursework and associated prerequisites must be completed with grades of C (2.0) or higher.
