Program Overview

The BS in Computer Science + Chemistry is a collaborative program between the Siebel School of Computing and Data Science (Grainger College of Engineering) and the Department of Chemistry (College of Liberal Arts & Sciences). This interdisciplinary degree equips students with both computational expertise and deep scientific knowledge to address modern challenges in chemical engineering, pharmaceutical development, and molecular research.

  • Combines programming, data structures, and algorithms with organic, physical, and computational chemistry

  • Year 1: Introduction to CS, General Chemistry I & II with labs, Calculus I, Gen Eds

  • Year 2: Data Structures, Organic Chemistry, Discrete Math, Gen Eds

  • Year 3: Algorithms, Physical Chemistry, Statistics, CS/Chem electives

  • Year 4: Advanced CS & Chemistry electives, Capstone or research, Free electives

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Hands-on undergraduate research in computational chemistry or software systems
