University History
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has a long history dating back to 1862. The Institution of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a public research university in the state of Illinois, United States. It is the main campus of the University of Illinois system and is a land-grant university. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) was founded in 1868 and is the state's second-oldest public university (after Illinois State University). It is also a founding member of the Big Ten Conference. John Milton Gregory was the first president of UIUC. On March 2, 1868, the institution began classes with two faculty members and 77 pupils. The College of Agriculture, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences was founded the same year, as was the College of Fine and Applied Arts (formerly known as the College of Literary Science). In 1868, The College of Engineering was established. In 1867, the university was known as "Illinois Industrial University." The Illinois Industrial University was renamed the University of Illinois in 1885 to reflect its comprehensive agricultural, mechanical, and liberal arts curriculum. For the next 50 years, this was the official name, until 1935, when it was changed to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The university and its surrounding communities are located in the neighboring cities of Champaign and Urbana, roughly 140 miles south of Chicago, and provide a cultural and recreational atmosphere that is perfect for the work of a large research institution. The College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences uses farmland throughout Illinois as experimental areas. Housing services
UIUC has their own housing system and provides halls and residential facilities for students. There are twenty-four residence halls in both Urbana and Champaign that provide university accommodation for undergraduates. A food plan is needed for all undergraduates residing in the undergraduate halls. Graduate housing is typically provided by three university-owned apartment complexes and two graduate residential halls, which are restricted to individuals in their second year or higher. Beckwith Residential Support Services includes accommodations for students with significant physical disabilities in Nugent Hall, one of the newer residence halls. The residential halls of the university are divided into two parts, Urbana South and Urbana North.

Student housing for graduates
Both Daniels and Sherman Hall are residence halls for upperclassmen and graduate students. Both Daniels and Sherman Hall currently house students in their sophomore year or beyond. Meal plans are not required for students who live in these halls.
Apartments in University
Instead of traditional dorms, the housing department provides apartments that are privately owned. Graduate students, students with families, and faculty are the most prevalent users of these residences. These apartments are not suitable for freshmen. Orchard Downs is roughly a mile from campus, Goodwin-Green is near the Illinois Street Residence Halls, and Ashton Woods is near the research park.
Medical services
The university has its own health system working to solve the health-related problems of the students and staff, which is known as McKinley Health Center. The fundamental objective of this facility is to provide high-quality ambulatory healthcare and health education to students, as well as medical knowledge to University leadership. The center's objective is to be the University community's preferred student health provider, an integral element of the university's instructional mission, and a recognized leader in collegiate health care. Visas & Immigration support
You must complete and submit the online I-20 application in order to acquire an I-20 or DS-2019. Read all of the instructions in the application thoroughly. The issuance of your I-20 will be delayed if you submit your application and documentation incorrectly. After December 20 for the spring semester, May 20 for the summer semester, and August 1 for the fall semester, the university will not issue I-20s or DS-2019s. sports and fitness
The Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) and the Campus Recreation Center – East are the two main recreation facilities on campus (CRCE). The Intramural Physical Education Building (IMPE), which first opened in 1971, was restored in 2006 and reopened as the ARC in August 2008.The institution calls this facility "one of the country's largest on-campus recreation complexes." Where you can enjoy all the sports and physical activities.The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Illinois fields teams in ten men's and eleven women's varsity sports. Division I of the NCAA is where the university competes. The Fighting Illini are the university's athletic teams. Memorial Stadium for football, the State Farm Center for men's and women's basketball, and the Atkins Tennis Center for men's and women's tennis are among the university's athletic facilities. The men's NCAA basketball team enjoyed a dream season in 2005, tying the record for most wins in a season with Bruce Weber's Fighting Illini.
