Managing and processing data is becoming increasingly important in the modern worlddue to the widespread availability of and access to unprecedented amounts of data usingdiverse computational resources. Through six required courses, this minor will helpprovide students with an understanding of the fundamental principles and technologiesassociated with data management and processing. Students will gain experience usingdata science methodologies such as data mining and visualization to solve real-worldproblems by analyzing extremely large data sets. Students receiving this minor willdevelop an analytical mindset and provide them with the tools to become proficient inprocessing and managing massive amounts of data.
