University of Minnesota Twin CitiesThe bachelor of science degree program in Elementary Education: Foundations prepares students to work with children, including those with special needs and in urban school settings. The program does not lead directly to teaching licensure, but prepares students to enter the master of education (MEd)/initial licensure program in elementary education, which leads to state of Minnesota teaching licensure. It also prepares graduates to work in non-licensure educational settings (daycare centers or youth community programs) or other settings where a strong liberal education base is useful. The curriculum includes an extensive core of liberal education coursework that is central to elementary school teaching.
