A double major in art and education prepares students to work in elementary or secondary school. This double degree along with successful completion of the Praxis teaching certification exam prepares students for careers in public and private institutions as an elementary or secondary level art teacher. It provides students with a broad experience in a variety of art and media and technical skills to be used in the classroom. This double major degree is offered in conjunction with the Department of Education and a student must be accepted into this program through the Department of Education. This first major must be declared in art and a second major in either elementary or secondary education. Students are expected to attain and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in order to be admitted and to remain in the teacher certification programs
