Bachelors in History & Social Studies Adolescence Inclusive Education

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

SUNY Brockport

Program Overview

Our major prepares students to be expert social studies teachers and historians. Develop a broad knowledge base and strengthen your critical thinking, research, communication, and problem-solving skills vital to run a 5th - 12th grade social studies classroom.

Culminate your studies with hands-on student teaching experiences in a social studies classroom, gaining direct mentorship from a local teacher. Completion of the program will prepare you to seek initial certification to teach social studies grades 5 - 12.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with disabilities? Our programs offer the option to pursue dual certification, adding initial certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 7 – 12) to your initial certification in Adolescence Social Studies (Grades 5 – 12). Expand your skill set to work with students who have unique learning needs.

Our adolescence history/social studies programs prepare you to become a social studies teacher for grades 5 – 12. If you pursue dual certification, you will also be prepared for a career as a special education teacher.
