The major in Special Education is designed to prepare undergraduate candidates to become highly proficient in the delivery of instruction and services to all school aged children and adolescents with exceptionalities. The Department of Special Education has a strong reputation for preparing quality special education teachers in Chicago and the surrounding area over the last 20 years. Graduates from Department programs enter K-12 schools prepared to meet the needs of diverse learners and to address critical issues in the field.
Grade 12 / High School , Admission Application, Official ACT/SAT scores (required if you have earned fewer than 24 semester hours of college credit), Official transcript from high school, Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended (Courses taken at colleges or universities outside of the U.S. must be evaluated by Educational Credentials Evaluators, Inc. or World Education Services, Inc.), TOEFL ibT of 61, IELTS Composite score of 6.0 US universities use a holistic admissions review. Beyond grades and standardized test scores, they weigh the strength of your overall profile to understand who you are as a student and a person.
Profile Assessment: Applicants are generally assessed on their preparation in English, social sciences, research and quantitative reasoning. Statistics may be particularly helpful for Psychology, Education Research, Public Policy and other research-based programs.
