Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering (B.S. ASE) at UT Austin is a 127-credit-hour program designed to provide students with a robust foundation in aerospace principles and practices. The curriculum is structured to progressively build students' knowledge and skills over four years:

  • Years 1–2: Foundations

    • Emphasis on fundamental engineering sciences and mathematics.

    • Courses include calculus, physics, chemistry, and introductory engineering concepts.​

Year 3: Core Aerospace Concepts

  • Introduction to aerodynamics, propulsion, structural mechanics, flight mechanics, orbital mechanics, and flight control.​

Year 4: Advanced Topics and Design

  • Further depth in aerospace engineering with emphasis on design and laboratory courses.

Students have the option to specialize in one of two technical areas during their junior year: Atmospheric Flight or Space Flight

The Aerospace Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, ensuring it meets the quality standards essential for the profession.

Further Academic Progression :
