History

In 1883, about 140 years ago, The University of Texas at Austin opened with one building,8 professors, and 221 students. Today, the University of Texas ranks among the top 40 universities in the world.  The university is based on public research. It is a community with more than 51,000 students in its 18 colleges and schools, their teachers, researchers and staff. It has a global network of nearly half a million alumni.

Student Society-

 The University of Texas at Austin is not just about the classroom, lab and library it is about much more. While taking degree, students also have wide number of opportunities to pursue their favourite activities, discover new interests and hidden talents, refine their skills and build lifelong friendships. The University of Texas offers more than 1,100 student organizations, three different legislative student groups, 70-plus sororities and fraternities, many intramural and club sports teams and leagues, outdoor adventure and climbing trips and many more things are there to do.

Sports and Fitness-

Since 1916, Recreational Sports has promoted physical fitness, healthy habits, and balanced behaviour through an area of recreation facilities, programs, services and special events. Programs include Intramural Sports, Fitness/Wellness, Outdoor Recreation, Sport Clubs, Instructional, and Informal Recreation. All these activities keep students fit and healthy.

The Fitness/Wellness program at The University of Texas focuses on physical fitness and healthy lifestyle behaviour by offering group exercise classes, clinics and series, personal training. These programs inspire a healthy body and promote proper exercise techniques.
