Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Capstone Senior Design:
All FAU Computer Engineering students complete a two-semester capstone senior design sequence. Students work in teams to design, build, and test solutions to real-world engineering problems, often presenting their projects at the FAU Senior Design Showcase.

  • Research Opportunities:
Students can participate in faculty-led research projects in areas such as artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, and data science, often supported by major agencies like NSF, NIH, and DOD.

  • Laboratory Courses:
The curriculum includes multiple required lab courses in circuits, digital systems, and electronics, providing hands-on technical experience.

Progression & Future Opportunities

  • Industry Sectors:
Opportunities exist in computing, electronics, aerospace, defense, telecommunications, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, robotics, and security.

  • Further Study:
Graduates are well-prepared for advanced degrees (MS, PhD) in computer engineering, computer science, or related fields. FAU offers joint BS/MS and direct BS-to-PhD pathways.
