4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
Morgan State University’s Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering offers a Computer Engineering concentration that blends hardware and software design with a strong emphasis on early, hands-on laboratory and design experiences.
The program integrates mathematical and physical sciences with “design across the curriculum,” allowing students to specialize in computer engineering, embedded systems, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, RF/microwave communications, microelectronics, and signal processing.
Course Overview:
Year 1: Calculus I & II, Intro to C Programming, Intro to Electrical Engineering, Physics I, Freshman Composition, Freshman Orientation, Health Education.
Year 2: Calculus III, Differential Equations, Physics II, Electric Circuits, Digital Logic, Signals & Systems, Electronic Materials, Economics.
Year 3: Probability & Statistics, Electronic Circuits, Discrete Systems, Electromagnetics, Principles of Design, Black Diaspora Studies, Chemistry, Approved Electives.
Year 4: Advanced Engineering Math, Senior Design I & II, Professional Practice, Project Management, Environmental Design, ECE Electives, University Core electives.
Capstone Design: Two-semester senior design project where students work in teams to solve complex, real-world engineering problems using cross-disciplinary knowledge.
Laboratory Integration: Labs and hands-on design experiences are embedded throughout the curriculum starting from the first year.
Research Opportunities: Students can participate in faculty-led research in cutting-edge areas like AI/ML, embedded systems, microelectronics, and signal processing.
Industry Exposure: Professional practice and project management components prepare students for workplace expectations.
Open-Ended Projects: Students engage in creative problem-solving across specialty areas such as cybersecurity, communications, and embedded system design.
Graduate Outcomes:
Graduates are well-equipped for careers in technology, defense, power systems, automation, telecommunications, and government sectors.
