Morgan State University History

Morgan State University's history started in 1867 as the Centenary Biblical Institute. It was established with the purpose to train young men in the ministry but later it expanded its mission to train both men and women as teachers. In the year 1890, the institute was renamed Morgan College in honor of the Reverend Lyttleton Morgan. It was renamed a private institute in 1939. After 1939 it get its current name and became a public institute.
