Program Overview

The Manufacturing Engineering Technology curriculum in the Department of Engineering Technology prepares graduates with technical knowledge and leadership skills necessary to enter technical and managerial careers in manufacturing. Graduates will be able to apply a wide spectrum of technological and managerial tools and methods to tackle manufacturing-related problems in production of industrial and consumer goods. A four-year curriculum at Texas state University-San Marcos includes courses in product design, materials, processes, tooling, manufacturing systems, quality assurance, automation and integration, and operations management. This curriculum is implemented by adopting the hands-on, experiential learning method. The Manufacturing Engineering Technology program is designed to provide students with a firm technical foundation in conventional manufacturing technologies and, at the same time, prepare them to face the challenges of today s globalized, environmentally conscious, and interdisciplinary business environments.
