Texas State University San Marcos is a privately run research university that is situated in San Marcos, Texas. The university was founded in the year 1899 that started with the motive of providing manual training. It initially started as a school that started in the year 1903. There were around 303 students who joined the school on the first day. The Texas State University San Marcos has over a period of time and now has around 18 buildings on the campus. Over the years, the university's name has also changed. It first began as Southwest Texas State Normal School and then changed its final name in 2003 to Texas State University San Marcos. The university today is known to be the second-largest university in Greater Austin and also the fifth-largest university in Texas.
