Program Overview

​Cornell University offers a robust Bachelor of Science program in Mechanical Engineering through the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. While a dedicated undergraduate major in Aerospace Engineering isn't available, students can tailor their studies to focus on aerospace topics within the Mechanical Engineering curriculum. This flexibility allows students to delve into areas such as aerodynamics, propulsion, and spacecraft dynamics, preparing them for careers in the aerospace sector.

Curriculum Structure:

The undergraduate program begins with a common curriculum in the first two years, providing a solid foundation in engineering principles. Students then apply to affiliate with a major, such as Mechanical Engineering, in their second year. After affiliation, students undertake major-specific courses, including at least 30 credits of required courses, 9 credits of major-approved electives, and 9 credits of courses outside the major. This structure allows students to customise their education to align with their career goals.

The Mechanical Engineering program at Cornell is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, ensuring it meets the quality standards of the profession.
