The English department believes that the study and practice of creative writing elevates the mind, opens new avenues to the understanding of literature and language, enlarges capacity to understand and communicate, and integrates liberal learning. writing curriculum has introductory courses, advanced workshops, and independent studies in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and in conjunction with the Departments of Theatre and Dance, dramatic writing and screenwriting.
