Agnes Scott College is a private women's liberal arts college in Decatur, Georgia. It is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is founded as one of the Seven Sisters of the South. The college was founded in 1889 by Presbyterian minister Frank H. Gaines as Decatur Female Seminary. The university name was changed to Agnes Scott Institute to honor the mother of the college's primary benefactor, Col. George Washington Scott in 1890. The name was converted again to Agnes Scott College in 1906 and remains today a women's college.

Agnes Scott College provides scholarships for all students who are early applicants. They are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships ranging from $15,000-$25,000 per year. These scholarships are granted based on factors including academic achievement, community service, leadership, and extracurricular involvement. Only the Goizueta Foundation Scholarship, Presbyterian Scholarship, Alexander & Loris Wasserman Scholarship, Nannette Hopkins Music Scholarship, and Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship require a separate application. The college also received Heiskell Award.

Agnes Scott College is situated within walking distance of downtown Decatur. There is a MARTA subway station, located in downtown Decatur, which allows students to travel to Atlanta. Agnes Scott Hall is the oldest building on campus. It occupies more than 90 acres. The college also owns the Avery Glen apartments and more than a dozen houses in the surrounding neighborhoods housing faculty, staff, and students. There are also six undergraduate dormitories situated on campus. The college's science building contains a three-story rendering of part of the nucleotide sequence from Agnes Scott's mitochondrial DNA.
