Program Overview

Observe, study, and forecast the weather and climate changes that affect people across the globe everyday. You’ll learn to calculate the movement of weather events, read radar and satellite data, and identify changes in climate patterns. From the learning the fundamentals of meteorology, to chasing storms in the Great Plains, to studying the environment of the farthest depths of the ocean, our meteorology curriculum has something for everyone.

Whether you go on to forecast for a news network, conduct atmospheric research, or enter the field of environmental consultation, a degree in meteorology will provide the framework for the rest of your career.

The meteorology major at Brockport meets federal guidelines for meteorologists, enabling graduates to jump into a career in the federal, state, or private sectors.
