Black Studies at Amherst is an interdisciplinary exploration of the histories and cultures of Black peoples in Africa and around the world.Courses draw on literature, philosophy, history and many other disciplines to examine African, African-American and Caribbean/Latin American themes. Also study the social construction of racial differences and its relation to the perpetuation of racism and racial domination.
Common Application, Coalition Application OR QuestBridge Application, Amherst College Writing Supplement, School Report, Secondary School Transcript high school diploma or its recognized equivalent is required before enrolling at Amherst College, Counselor Recommendation, Two Teacher Recommendations, Standardized Test Results, either self-reported or official, for the SAT or ACT, English Proficiency Requirements: 100 on the internet-based TOEFL iBT: 25 or above recommended for each section, 75 on the paper-delivered TOEFL: 25 or above recommended for each section, 7.5 overall band score on IELTS Academic: 7.5 or above recommended for each component score
