University of Michigan Ann ArborMajoring in Afroamerican and African Studies will allow you to develop a comprehensive understanding of Africa and its diaspora: the varied cultures of African-descended people around the world. While exploring different geographical regions, cultures, historical periods, and political contexts, you will develop expertise about one of the geographical regions central to our curriculum: Africa, African America, or the African Diaspora broadly conceived, and you will develop specialized knowledge in your chosen field (e.g., Popular Culture and New Media; Health; Gender and Sexuality Studies).
