Students and faculty explore the cultures of ancient Greece and Rome cultures that are unlike ours in many ways and yet are foundational for the modern world. Courses provide a broad perspective of ancient Mediterranean life through the study of literature, history, archaeology, mythology, and religious and social practices, and through the study of Greek and Latin, from introductory language classes to advanced study of some of the world s most beautiful and profound texts.
Common Application, Coalition Application OR QuestBridge Application, Amherst College Writing Supplement, School Report, Secondary School Transcript high school diploma or its recognized equivalent is required before enrolling at Amherst College, Counselor Recommendation, Two Teacher Recommendations, Standardized Test Results, either self-reported or official, for the SAT or ACT, English Proficiency Requirements: 100 on the internet-based TOEFL iBT: 25 or above recommended for each section, 75 on the paper-delivered TOEFL: 25 or above recommended for each section, 7.5 overall band score on IELTS Academic: 7.5 or above recommended for each component score
