Program Overview

The Exercise and Sport Science Department at Carthage prepares students for careers as athletic trainers health educators physical education teachers K12 health teachers K12 coaches and health, sport, and fitness instructors.Students take courses in health and wellness education, coaching, nutrition, first aid and safety, consumer health issues, psychology, kinesiology, and physiology. Students develop an understanding of the history and philosophy of exercise and sport programs while learning how to best teach, motivate, evaluate, and organize sports and fitness activities and programs.
