"The mission of the Art Department is to affirm and nurture the creative spirit of each student and to promote the skilled production of artwork and the appreciation of art as a discipline that contributes to the cultures and histories of humanity.The goals of the Art Program are the following: To teach students to effectively utilize artistic processes and visual elements to express concepts and emotions. To aid individuals in the development of skill, sensitivity, and creativity in the use of art media.To help students develop critical thinking and the ability to analyze and evaluate visual images.To promote the appreciation of art as a discipline and examine its contributions to culture. To provide work and service opportunities for students to develop their artistic sensibilities and skills in support of the mission of the College.The Art Department provides a course of study in the visual arts that supports, integrates, and contributes to the mission of the college. Each student is encouraged to develop a unique vision and to come to a greater understanding and appreciation of the diverse responses and contributions of others. Students explore how and why they work creatively and develop an appreciation for art in a historical context. "
