Portland State University's Black Studies major is an innovative program that incorporates courses from many departments and focuses on the historical and contemporary issues of people of African, African American, Afro-Latin@ and Caribbean descent. Students with a major in Black Studies will gain competency in project development, analysis, research, communication, cultural sensitivity, and interpersonal and community relations.
Have completed secondary school or high school, Education must be equivalent to United States secondary school or high school education, have a cumulative grade point average GPA of at least 2.5 when converted to the U.S. 4.0 grading scale, Submit Your Application, submit high school transcripts, grades and other relevant academic records along with your graduation certificate, English Language requirement:TOEFL IBT: minimum overall score of 71; minimum subscore of 15 in reading and writing, Academic IELTS:6.0 overall; minimum 6.0 in reading and writing, Academic PTE: 53 overall, SAT: 560 or above in the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section, DET Duolingo English Test: 110 or above
