The History and Philosophy Department at Troy boasts a qualified faculty who offers a wide array of courses spanning the entire historical experience. The faculty is dedicated to developing within students the skills of critical thinking and rigorous research through the study of past human endeavor. Our professors insist on high standards so that our students can develop and graduate with skills that will enable them to excel in a myriad of future endeavors.Our undergraduate student body includes more than two hundred History majors and more than a hundred minors, some taking courses in the classroom and others pursuing an education online. Undergraduates majoring in History select from among three emphases, American/Latin American, European/Asian/African, and Public History.

Profile Assessment: Undergraduate applicants interested in law may choose Pre-Law, Political Science, Economics, History, Philosophy, International Relations or another field. Debate, Model United Nations, mock trials, student government, journalism, advocacy, research and community service may demonstrate critical thinking and communication.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
