The joint Linguistics & Philosophy major combines a solid foundation in both disciplines with an interdisciplinary focus on understanding the human capacity for language. Through rigorous training in a variety of theoretical, empirical, and analytical approaches, students acquire the knowledge and skills they need for in-depth exploration of fundamental questions related to meaning, intention, and reference.

Profile Assessment: Undergraduate applicants interested in law may choose Pre-Law, Political Science, Economics, History, Philosophy, International Relations or another field. Debate, Model United Nations, mock trials, student government, journalism, advocacy, research and community service may demonstrate critical thinking and communication.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
