At Birmingham-Southern, we're here to make sure you succeed. We offer the perfect blend of challenging academics, strong teachers, undergraduate research, internships, and service opportunities to prepare you for medical school and help you stand out from other applicants. You'll shadow physicians at local hospitals or health care professionals in your chosen field full-time for a month during the January E-Term and get extra mentoring if you choose. A designated Health Professions Program Advisor helps you along the way, including with applications, an advisory committee writes the important Committee Letter endorsing you. It all works, too--our admittance rate to medical schools for the Class of 2017 is 72 percent, well above the national average, and other professions are even higher.
