The actuarial science program is designed to prepare students for careers in the highly regarded actuarial field; the mathematical backbone of the insurance and pension industries. Actuaries are the leading professionals in finding ways to manage risk. It takes a combination of strong analytical skills, business knowledge and understanding of human behavior to manage today's complex risks facing our society. Actuaries solve a variety of problems related to risk, such as determining premiums for insurance companies, helping companies establish their retirement plans, developing life insurance products and assisting banks in managing their assets and liabilities and developing ways to manage their financial risk. Very few universities of our size have an actuarial program, and ours is growing rapidly. When you major in actuarial science at Ashland University, we'll prepare you for the first two professional actuarial examinations on probability and financial mathematics.
