BS Applied Mathematics

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Randolph Macon College

Program Overview

Applied Mathematics sits at the intersection of mathematics, science and engineering. Many scientific studies begin with a mathematical model, which encodes the scientist's understanding of how the world works. Logical implications of the model form testable predictions, which can then be compared with data from the real world. Because the mathematical model tracks the entire scientific process, an applied mathematician must be prepared to work with a variety of tools: proofs, computer code, simulations, visualizations, data and more.
