This program is designed to prepare prospective math teachers to be highly skilled, creative and scholarly, reflective educators able to meet the varied needs of students of all grades. Courses in this program lead toward New York state initial teacher certification, mathematics, grades 7-12. Secondary education programs are designed to blend on-campus preparation with field experiences in various school settings, culminating in full-time student teaching. Literacy, multicultural education, and information technology are integrated throughout all aspects of the program. The program conforms to the New York State Learning Standards in Mathematics, Science, and Technology and with the recommendations of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
