Program Overview

The BSLAS in Mathematics & Computer Science at UIUC is an interdisciplinary program jointly offered by the Department of Mathematics (College of Liberal Arts & Sciences) and the Siebel School of Computing and Data Science (Grainger College of Engineering). This degree equips students with advanced skills in both fields, supporting careers that demand strong analytical, algorithmic, and theoretical capabilities.

  • Year 1: Intro to Computer Science I, Computer Science Orientation, Calculus I & II, Discrete Strucutres, General Education Elective

  • Year 2: Data Structures, Software Design Lab, Calculus III, General Education Electives, Fundamental Mathematics, Linear Algebra 

  • Year 3: Systems Programming, Intro to Algs & Model of Comp, Numerical Analysis, General Education Elective, Free Electives

  • Year 4: Program Languages and Compliers, Math Group II elective, Free Electives, Math 6th course

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Research involvement with faculty in cutting-edge projects across CS and mathematics
