At UTSA you can earn a Mathematics degree with a concentration in either Mathematics or General Mathematical Studies. The Mathematics concentration will teach you how to provide technical support and conduct research for high-technology industries, government and private companies. The General Mathematical Studies concentration will help you obtain a state certification to teach mathematics in either middle and high school. Both concentrations will teach you how to apply theories and techniques to solve practical problems and can serve as a stepping stone to graduate school and becoming a professional mathematician. Concentrations are declared after you ve been admitted and have met with your academic advisor.
Official transcripts from the previously attended schools, High school transcripts, Posses quivalent of a U.S. high school diploma with a minimum gpa of 2.5, SAT and ACT test scores, English language profeciency test scores (A TOEFL Internet-Based Test (IBT) score of 79 or greater, An IELTS score of 6.5 or greater) US universities use a holistic admissions review. Beyond grades and standardized test scores, they weigh the strength of your overall profile to understand who you are as a student and a person.
Profile Assessment: Science applicants are generally assessed on the rigour of their Mathematics and laboratory-science coursework. Relevant preparation may include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus or Statistics, depending on the intended field. Research, science fairs, Olympiads, laboratory exposure, independent investigation and environmental or community-science projects can demonstrate scientific curiosity and analytical thinking.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
