The University of Texas at San Antonio History

The University of Texas at San Antonio was established on June 5, 1969, as H.B. 42 by the 61st Texas Legislature and signed into law by Governor Preston Smith. Frank Lombardino, a conservative Democrat who represented northwest Bexar County in the state legislature, was dubbed the "Father of UTSA" because of his fervent support for the university.

The University of Texas at San Antonio campus has over 34,000 students spread across four campuses spanning 758 acres. The Main Campus, the oldest and largest of the three, arose from a 600-acre gift to the University Of Texas Board Of Regents. UTSA purchased a 125-acre swath of land on Hausman Road in 2006 to build its future athletics complex, bringing the Main Campus total to 725 acres. The University of Texas at San Antonio campus includes academic buildings, administrative buildings, housing, a library, dining, a recreational center, a health center, a shopping complex, and much more.

There are no office visit fees for appointments for medical, mental health, and wellness services.
