The Physics major at the University of Georgia offers a curriculum that provides a thorough grounding in physics fundamentals. Courses such as modern physics, optics, electricity & magnetism, biophysics, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and others emphasize problem-solving, conceptual reasoning, and quantitative modeling in generally small class sizes. Students are encouraged to pursue experimental, theoretical, or simulational research utilizing UGA s molecular and electron beams, condensed matter laser, atomic force microscope, laser-heated crystal growth facility, and spectroscopy laboratories.
