Major/Minor in Biology

This program gives graduates a strong foundation in science and emphasizes hands-on learning. Small classes and labs mean professors can guide you in small groups and one-on-one settings. If you're interested in research, you'll get opportunities as an undergrad that graduate students fight for at bigger schools. There are also numerous opportunities for fieldwork, both here in Birmingham (with special access to Turkey Creek Nature Preserve, which BSC co-manages) and across the world; international travel includes regular trips to the Galapagos and Honduras.Our program emphasizes hands-on learning in ways that sharpen the problem-solving and critical thinking skills that are the foundation of a successful career.Birmingham-Southern biology students go on to be doctors, dentists, and nurses, researchers seeking to cure diseases, and teachers educating the next generation of scientists. But there are other options you may not have thought of: patent lawyers, genetic counselors, biomedical illustrators and many more.
