Program Overview

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers three American Chemical Society certified degrees. The Bachelor of Science degree with a major in chemistry and a concentration in chemical physics is designed for students who have a strong interest in fundamental science, especially chemistry and physics, and have an aptitude for mathematics. In addition to rigorous classroom preparation, students pursuing this degree receive extensive lab experience including hands-on operation of numerous instruments.

International applicants who are considered as a traditional freshman graduated from high school less than 5 years ago or considered as a freshman/transfer graduated from high school less than 5 years ago and have less than 30 transferable college hours must submit official SAT or ACT scores, TOEFL score of 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based testing or 79 internet-based testing, IELTS score of 6.5, SAT Evidence Based Reading/Writing score of 480, or ACT English score of 17, or ACT reading score of 17, EIKEN score of Pre-1, MELAB score of 77, FCE, Advanced CAE or Proficiency CPE score of 176 CPE = 180, CIE IGCSE and O Level English exams score of D or better, UK GCSE English exam score of C or better, UK GCE A-Level English exam score of C or better, EdExcel International A-Levels and IGCSE English exams score of D or better, Pearson PTE Academic score of 58
