Through the strategic advising, you'll develop an individual plan for future success in the field of economics whether you go on to graduate school or jump right into a career. Of course you ll start with the basics like macro and microeconomics and quantitative analysis. Then, you ll work with your advisor to select elective courses in the area of economics that interests you most. Many students choose to combine their economics degree with a second major in politics, history, international studies, computer science, or mathematics, while some students take minors in related fields.

The BA in Economics is offered by the College of Arts and Sciences; courses are taught by economists in the College of Arts & Sciences and in the Barney School of Business. The economics major provides an appropriate foundation for a wide variety of careers. It is a valuable background for employment in the governmental, non-profit, or business sectors and the Foreign Service. Economics is a preferred major for those wishing to pursue graduate work in economics, business and public administration, or the law.
